Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate) for Mushroom Substrates

Yeah this is the same stuff they plaster houses with, Calcium Sulphate. Turns out it’s also useful for mushroom cultivation so although we’d get laughed off site for being shit on a trowel, we buy loads of it because it does a few really good things:

• Add it to grain when making grain spawn to help break it up once fully colonised and provide some essential minerals to your mycelium
• Mix it with your mushroom substrate of choice to help maintain optimal pH levels
• Use it in Cordyceps liquid culture for the minerals!

You don’t have to use this when you’re growing mushrooms, but the stronger and healthier your mycelium is, the better your end result is likely to be!
