First off, thanks for choosing MycoPunks. These instructions will help you get the most out of your incubator and have you growing mushrooms throughout the year without worrying about having the heating on!
BEFORE YOU START
HOW IT WORKS
01. Prep
Make sure you have all the parts for the incubator kit. See the parts in stage one below.
02. Find a space
Find a home for your incubator to sit where it won't need to be moved whilst in use. You'll need a plug socket nearby.
03. Clean up
Follow the cleaning instructions below before using your HotTub for the first time.
STAGE ONE : WHATS IN THE box?
Gray Tub with hygrometer / thermometer.
Clear TekTub with Microppose filters installed.
25w fish tank heater in box with cable and UK plug.
Closed cell foam pad to prevent overheating your mycelium.
Sachet of chlorine granules to prevent algae.
STAGE TWO : SET UP
Step 1 : You should use gloves and eye protection when working with chlorine as it could splash and cause you an injury.
Step 2 : Add the sucker feet to your fishtank heater and position it in the centre of the grey tub.
Step 3 : Plug Set your fish tank heater to 25c and ensure your cables aren't going to trip anyone over.
Step 4 : Pour 5ltrs of warm tap water into the grey tub and add your chlorine granules and mix to dissolve.
Step 5 : Slowly lower your clear monotub into the grey tub until the bottom is submerged in the water slightly.
Step 6 : Place the closed cell foam into your clear tub, this prevents direct heat from damaging your mycelium or drying out grains.
stage 3 : incubating your items
Step 7 : Your temperature gauge should be between 20-25c during incubation.
Once you have loaded your items for incubation ensure the grey lid is back on the unit to keep the heat in. Check on your incubator once a day to ensure things aren't getting too warm for your mycelium.
Grain bags and substrate
After inoculation, place your grain bags into the incubator upright ensuring the white filter is not obstructed.
Agar dishes and LC
You can incubate agar and LC jars by placing them into the incubator but please don't allow agar dishes to touch the sides of the tub.
care and maintaince
Cleaning
Give the tub a good cleanout with isopropyl alcohol or some kitchen bleach spray before using and in between each use. Replace the water periodically to prevent algae build up.
