Premium Mixed Hardwood Fuel Pellets for growing wood loving mushroom species.

Probably if you’ve clicked this far you’re aware that different kinds of mushrooms like to eat different things. Different evolutionary paths and all that sort of jazz, niches filled, hierarchies established.

This stuff is the business if you’re wanting to grow some nice gourmet wood-lovers: Lion’s Mane (Hericium Erinaceus), Golden Reishi (Ganoderma Curtisii), or even oyster mushrooms (Plureotus) because oyster mushrooms just do not give a fuck and will eat almost anything happily.

These types of mushroom break down and eat the lignin in the wood, which they can turn into glucose (it’s way more complicated than that but this is the short version). Probably suck a golf ball through a garden hose, given half a chance. This then metaphorically kicks the doors down on the Tree Buffet Restaurant and then the other saprotrophic mushrooms can get involved and eat the bits they’re able to.

Like all of our raw ingredients, this is the same stuff we use in our prepared products, in this case our Rise Above Organic Oak and Bran Sterile Substrate.

Here’s a recipe:

  • Take your dry weight of hardwood pellets, write it down big and call it PELLETS
  • Work out 20% of PELLETS (use a calculator if you like and do PELLETSx0.2). This is your bran weight (we use this bran).
  • Work out 160% of PELLETS (PELLETSx1.6). This is your water weight. Mix everything, sterilise. Nice and easy!

✅ 100% recycled hardwoods with no additives

✅ 6mm wood pellet

✅ Compacted recycled wood fibre

✅ Reliable, clean and efficient

✅ Low moisture content and ash content below 0.5%

✅ Don’t use it as animal bedding please cheers

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to everyone now using these pellets in their outdoor pizza ovens and their pellet stoves/burners, demand has shot up, so they’re getting trickier to get hold of. Please be cool, don’t buy these for cooking up a margherita in the garden, as we want everyone who’s interested in learning to cultivate mushrooms to have access to them if needed.
