If you’re producing your own grain spawn to a reasonable scale, then you’ve most likely moved on from the mason-jar-and-drilled-lid end of things, and you need something more substantial, and easier to store - once again we’ve got the goods - Unicorn Bags!
Like we said on the Microppose Adhesive Tub Filter page, there are a few companies that are absolute leaders in the world of mushroom cultivation, and Unicorn are one of the big daddies. Based over in sunny Texas, they make a whole range of sturdy bags purpose-designed for one thing: growing loads of mushrooms. They’ve been going since 1990, so really if you wanna double-down on a crazy niche then after 30+ years you’d be fairly sure there’s not much about making mushroom spawn bags that they don’t know.
Obviously them being all the way over there in Cowboyland makes it a bit tricky if you just want to buy a few bags for your home grows, so that’s where we come in useful, buying pallets of them, shipping them over here, and selling them in quantities of as little as ten at a time.

This side-gusseted breathable bag gives a sturdy stand-up bag after filling and a strong bottom seal. We manufacture it with equipment we designed and with proprietary additives, Unicorn Bags are pliable at any temperature as well as after sterilization. The bag opening is designed for easy sealing and the bag’s bottom seal can withstand agitation.
So from my not-quite-layman’s reading of that, they’re sturdy as heck, they’ve got a breathable filter that won’t let any contaminants in, and they’ll withstand being heated up, shaken around, and some general bullying probably. Industry-leading for a reason!
I've been using these XLS-A Unicorn bags from MycoPunks and they are top-notch. They hold up incredibly well during sterilization and handle our local wood pellet substrate perfectly. We grow a lot of Lion's Mane, Blue Oyster, and King Oyster mushrooms, and these bags provide the exact environment they need to thrive. Highly recommended!

The bags are ok but i thought they had injection ports. Probaly my fault shopping in a rush but at a glance its not clear.
The fact that one product is called '10T Unicorn Bag' and one is called '10T W/ Injection Port Unicorn Bag' and INJECTION PORT written in bold black letters on the product image I would *hope* is clear enough. Giving a product a bad review because you were in a rush doesn't seem paticularly fair, but I guess we will just have to live with it. All the best with your mycology journey. Chris

I’m in the place where you have to give it a go and I’ve yet to use these.bags but I gave them a good look and they are good quality, so I’m eager to get to the point of using them. MycoPunks has provided me with nearly everything I need (except the end result) but I’m well happy with their products and services.
I thought I’d have a go so I checked these out and they look really good. I’ve yet to use them but I have no concerns about the quality of them, plus the company are really helpful. Nice work guys.

These bags are great, never had any issues with them. Fully autoclavable & are still pretty malleable after pressure cooker for hours. Haven’t tried using them more than twice yet but so far so good
