Lion’s Mane (Hericium Erinaceus) Commercial Culture (MP01A)

Another class, easy going beautiful fungi! People like this one so much they gave it a few strange nicknames: Bearded Tooth Fungus, Bearded Hedgehog, or even Yamabushitake depending on how cool ol’ Hericium is trying to sound for the lads in the pub.

It looks amazing, and that makes for a fun grow as you watch this little goober turn from a wee lump into an absolute unit; and the best part? It’s full of vitamins, and it tastes awesome (if you’re interested, there’s a whole lot of recipe ideas for it over here). Grow your own mushrooms, in your house, and make some amazing dinner for very little effort. That’s what Ice Cube was talking about in “It Was A Good Day” for sure.

This species loves MycoPunks sterile rye or millet for spawn and fruits incredibly well on Rise Above fruiting substrate.

Storage:

• No freeze, please
• Keep it somewhere cool and dark though (2-8°C is nice)
• It’ll be fine at room temperature for weeks and weeks though so don’t stress
• Ideally use within six weeks for the best results but it should last for months
