This might be one of the coolest products we've added in a while.
We asked our Discord community what we should call these so out of respect for our unhinged customer base I'll include the names they suggested at the bottom.
The product itself isn't anything particularly new. It's basically a modified pp5 pot with high nutrient agar. It has a Microppose injection port and filter to allow gas exchange.
Why is it cool?
Germinating spores
Firstly it gets you using agar if you've never tried it, you can inject a few drops of spore solution through the port and watch it grow out on the agar, the high nutrient mix shows contamination.
Liquid Culture
This is where it gets really cool. The typical process for liquid creation is to create sterile liquid culture media and transfer your mycelium from agar to the LC once the plate has colonised nicely. This requires some aseptic technique. At a bare minimum a still air box.
I thought recently, why not do it the other way around?
So we added 20ml of sterile LC media to the pot after the mycelium had established. Sure enough, 2 days later we had mycelium growing in the liquid on the surface of the agar. We shook it up, then drew up the liquid in a syringe and transferred it back into sterile jar of media.
Without any aseptic technique we'd made a liquid culture from spores using the correct(ish) method using agar.
I'm sure someone will tell me ShitBum_2000 on the Shroomery did this first in '99, but until then I'm claiming this as MYCOPUNKS LC KETCHUP POT TEK tm.
It doesn't stop there...
Needle Biopsy Cloning
We've successfully cloned mushrooms using a large gauge needle to biopsy mycelium from a mushroom and put it directly through the injection port onto agar.
This could be especially cool for collecting mycelium in the field for cleaning up later.
So now we've cloned, germinated and created liquid culture with no still air box.

Was using for around 2 and a half years untill now, dont know whats happened. Had contamination in the plates before opening from the last few orders, the last having 3 out of 4 packs of 10 contaminated. Sealed packages were opened and found between 1 and 4 months of purchasing with the last looking like it had contam for a long time, like most of that 4 months. I was blamed as they were not used quick enough. Response is quick and friendly, just avoid pre poured agar plates!!!!!

Firstly, I did not blame you for anything. I offered a replacement and gave you information on use by dates as this was from an order 6 months ago.
17/04/2025 - 'I’m happy to refund the original plates which contaminated, just a heads up they should used within two months otherwise they are past their best really.'
Secondly, I offered a replacement (sent 17/04/2025 and followed up 8/5) and you never responded... I never offered a refund.
I'm going to refund the order as that's clearly what you want after leaving this review, I'm disappointed that after 3 years and 15 orders with us you'd choose to do this via review system rather than responding to our emails.

had these pots now and used to clone a fruit they are great for beginners or even someone who doesn’t have still air box to do this, only one issue is the pots are some times quite unclear to see through but from a community post I’ve seen got they a different pot type from yourself which looked a lot more transparent, if they was like would be even better than they already are, also your tek video on using them was so good and informative thanks again myco
